As a legal immigrant to America, one of the proudest days of my life was the day I swore to support and defend the constitution as a new citizen in 1990, and as your city councilman in 2004. For my family, Escondido has truly delivered on the promise of the American dream. Today, I am honored to have been elected the mayor of this wonderful city, the city that we all love and deeply care about.
We have come to a crossroads in the history of our city, our state and our country. For our city to be successful, and for America to remain a great nation, we need to protect our fundamental rights entrusted to us by our Founding Fathers. We need to reach our true economic and social potentials to make Escondido a better city. Together, we will overcome our challenges to provide a better life for our families, and make Escondido the finest city in North County.
Today is a new beginning for our city, a renewed resolve in our values. And a future that will be guided by the mandate delivered by you, the citizens of Escondido. As your next mayor, I pledge my unwavering commitment, hard work and passion to protect the American dream for us and our children. I am excited about our future and the opportunities ahead of us. We all have an obligation to make Escondido a better place to live, for ourselves, our friends and our neighbors. Thanks to the nearly 12,000 voters for your support and vote of confidence. I will honor the trust you have given me to be Escondido’s next mayor.
